The European Wind Energy Association reported that wind power installations in 2010 grew by some 23%, but with the growth decreasing in comparison with previous years. This was the consequence of the economic situation; the highest share of the growth was mainly in emerging countries such as China and India
The world’s wind power capacity grew by 31% in 2009, adding 37.5 GW to bring total installations up to 157.9 GW. Nearly 35 percent of the new installations were made in China, that doubled its capacity in 2009 comparing to previous year.
Wind energy has now major share on world’s energy markets. Last year, world wind market accounted for some 50 billions euros, with 500 thousands people employed in this sector.
China become the main global player ( doubling its capacity to 25 GW in 2009) followed by the US and Europe.
China had the strongest growth rate also last year.
